Meet the Pastor
I am happy to join the Cokesbury Memorial United Methodist Church family as their Lead Pastor. Allow me to share a bit of my background.
I am a native Baltimorean and lifelong United Methodist. After attending and graduating from Baltimore City Public Schools and the University of Baltimore, I attended the Ecumenical Institute of Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary. I transferred to the Lancaster Theological Seminary in Lancaster, PA, as a full-time student, and received my Master of Divinity Degree on May 17, 2014.
My years of pastoral service include the following blessings: completing the License to Preach School of the Baltimore Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church; serving as Lead Pastor to the Fallston/Federal Hill Charge for seven years; serving the Reisterstown United Methodist Church as Minister of Visitation and later as Assistant Pastor for almost two years; and serving the Newark United Methodist Church as Student Pastor of Outreach and Social Justice for one year. On May 31, 2014, I was blessed to be commissioned as a Provisional Elder of the Baltimore Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church.
My service to God continues with my appointment to the Cokesbury Memorial United Methodist Church family as Lead Pastor. In this role and in all that I do, I hope to be known as a Child of God and a humble servant of the most High.
I look forward to the opportunity to worship, serve and fellowship with you during our weekly gatherings. Cokesbury Memorial offers a small church atmosphere with a large heart and commitment to God, community and missions.
Peace and Blessings
Rev. Brenda L. Lewis
